Medium carbon steel wire rods
In medium carbon steel wire rods, the weight percent of carbon is in the range of 0.2% to 0.4%. Also they are classified as medium strength steels, which have desired cold formability. Medium carbon steels are source materials for production of bolts, concrete reinforcement bars, etc. these types of wire rods are also used in cold drawing process. Ribbed wire rod for concrete reinforcement according to INSO 3132 (AIII) is one of the products of this group of steel. SAE 1022 with appropriate capability of cold heading process, is utilized for production of medium strength bolts. Chemical and mechanical properties of these grades are indicated as follows.
